Having a newborn baby is a critical moment for young families. It breaks the peace of your life. Noise and nappies will fulfil your life. However, when you have a newborn baby, so many magic things will happen. You will believe once again in things you believed in as a child. You will start to understand and love your parents in a new way. After your little one was born, you have a new job title as ‘parent’.

The biggest appeal of newborn lifestyle photography lies in capturing the beauty and authentic of real life. Photographing your newborn I look for the things that make your baby who they are the wrinkly hands, a little smile, a tuff of hair. My aim is to provide you with a collection of images that remind you of all the details that you gushed over in those first weeks and remind you of just how tiny and pure your baby was during this time.

At-home lifestyle newborn sessions are about the connection and love that family members already have for this new life. I'll capture special moments with each family member and the baby as well as the family all together. If siblings are involved, we usually take care of those photos first so that they can go and play during the rest of the session. I love when family pets can join in too. It can be helpful to have a friend or family member at the house who can watch siblings during the rest of the session so that Mum and Dad can be in photos with the baby.

There will also be time for photos of the baby alone, these are usually done when the baby is sleepiest. I take photos of babies swaddled or undressed and they are posed in a way you'd find them naturally.

This is all done in the comfort of your home. No need to get baby and whoever else in to a studio. There is no disruption, just the quiet and calm of your own home. Or the chaos… I love that too! These sessions are relaxed and not rushed, I document the life as you now know it. Sitting in your favourite chair in the corner feeding baby or laying on your big bed smooching your little one, so full of love. Or we can stroll in your garden.

They are only this small once and it is so fleeting, before you know it, you’re yelling at them to get their asses in to gear and get in the car to get to school! Or is that just me?
